Dermal Filler FAQS

Most filler appointments take approximately 45-60 minutes, though first-time appointments can sometimes take longer. We take the time to understand your goals, assess your facial anatomy, discuss treatment options, and provide personalized recommendations and education before proceeding with treatment. More comprehensive treatments involving multiple areas may require additional time.

How long does an appointment take?

You’re in great hands. We never rush decisions. Your consultation includes education, honest recommendations, and space to ask every question before you choose anything.

What if I’m nervous or new to fillers?

Yes, you’ll see results right away, with final results after a few days as swelling settles.

Are results immediate?

No. When used thoughtfully, fillers restore balance and volume without changing your natural features.

Will fillers make me look overdone?

Dermal fillers typically last anywhere between 6 and 18 months, depending on the exact filler type, injection site and depth, and individual metabolism. Periodic maintenance treatment helps keep results looking consistent over time.

How long do filler results last?

Most dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance your body naturally produces to keep skin hydrated and plump. They are designed to be temporary and are gradually metabolized (broken down and absorbed) by the body over time.

What’s in dermal filler, and what happens to it in your body?

Neuromodulators like Botox relax targeted facial muscles to soften expression lines caused by movement. Dermal fillers restore volume and shape, helping support facial structure and smooth deeper folds.

What's the difference in Botox and filler?

Most clients experience little downtime, though mild swelling or bruising can occur temporarily. You may notice tiny injection marks or mild redness that fade quickly, and you can return to your day right away. There are a few simple post-treatment guidelines, such as avoiding intense exercise and not applying pressure to the treated areas for a short period of time, but these are easy to follow and will be reviewed with you at your appointment.

Neuromodulator FAQS

Neuromodulators have been used safely for decades for both medicinal and cosmetic uses. When performed using careful dosing and refined technique, they are considered very safe. During your consultation, we review your medical history to ensure this treatment is appropriate for you.

Are neuromodulators safe?

Is there any downtime?

Most appointments take 15-20 minutes. The initial consultation takes slightly longer as we take time to understand your goals and movement patterns, and provide personalized recommendations and education.

Neurmodulator injections for TMJD are not currently offered at The Face Place. TMJ concerns can have many underlying causes, and a proper assessment by a dental professional is the best first step to ensure the condition is accurately diagnosed and managed. While we do offer masseter injections for cosmetic jawline slimming, we are focused on cosmetic treatments and do not treat TMJD. If you believe you are experiencing TMJ-related pain, please consult your dentist, who can assess your symptoms and guide you toward the most appropriate treatment options.

Do you offer neuromodulator injections for TMJ disorder (TMJD)?

Yes, we offer neuromodulator treatments for hyperhidrosis for the underarms. Treatment works by temporarily blocking the signals that stimulate sweat glands, helping reduce excessive sweating in the treated area. In some cases, treatment for hyperhidrosis may be eligible for coverage by private insurance plans when certain criteria are met. We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to verify your individual coverage.

What if I’m nervous or new to Botox?

Neuromodulators can soften lines and refine movement in many areas of the face. Common treatment zones include the forehead, frown lines between the brows, and crow’s feet around the eyes. They can also be used in more targeted ways to address concerns such as:

What areas can Botox treat?

  • bunny lines on the nose
  • a gummy smile
  • downturned corners of the mouth
  • a dimpled chin
  • vertical lip lines
  • neck bands (platysmal bands)
  • masseter muscles for jawline slimming or teeth grinding
  • subtle eyebrow lift
  • underarms for hyperhidrosis (excess sweating)

Typically 3–4 months, depending on your unique facial movements and treatment plan. Maintenance visits are required to maintain results.

How long do results last?

You’ll usually start to notice a softening of lines within 3-5 days, though the onset can vary slightly depending on which neuromodulator is used. The effect develops gradually, with the full result settling in around two weeks.

How soon will I see results?

The number of units used for treatment is based on your unique anatomy, muscle strength, movement patterns, and aesthetic goals. For this reason, the appropriate number of units needed can only be determined after a proper assessment and consultation.

How do I know how many units I will need?

Most clients describe Botox as a quick pinch that’s over before you know it. We use gentle techniques to keep you comfortable throughout.

Does it hurt?

Yes! Our approach focuses on softening lines while preserving real expression. You’ll look like you… just a little more rested.

Will I still look like myself?

“Neuromodulator” is a broad medical term that refers to injectable medications used to soften expression lines by relaxing specific facial muscles. It includes well known brands such as Botox®, Dysport®, Nuceiva®, and Xeomin®.

What does the term neuromodulator mean?

All of these brands work in a very similar way. They differ slightly in how quickly they take effect, and how they diffuse in the muscle.

What is the difference between Botox®, Dysport®, Nuceiva®, and Xeomin®?

The Face Place does not currently offer neuromodulator treatments for chronic migraines. Migraine management requires a thorough assessment to confirm the type of headache, rule out other causes, and ensure that first-line treatments have been explored. If you are seeking migraine treatment, the best next step is to speak with your primary care provider or a neurologist, who can guide you through the proper assessment.

LATISSE FAQS

LATISSE is the first FDA-approved product to grow lashes longer, fuller, and darker for those who do not have enough lashes. It has been studied for safety and efficacy and is available only by prescription (via Latisse.com).

How is LATISSE solution different than other lash products that don't require a prescription?

Apply LATISSE daily for 16 weeks. Do not reduce or stop application when you first notice results. Using LATISSE® more than once a day will not increase eyelash growth.

How long is the treatment?

Your lashes will gradually return to their natural growth pattern over time.

What happens if I stop using LATISSE?

Consistent daily use is recommended to achieve and maintain results.

Do I need to use it every day?

Yes, when prescribed and used as directed under medical supervision.

Is LATISSE safe?

Lash growth is gradual while using LATISSE. Some may start to notice longer lashes after about a month, and many should experience full results in 16 weeks. Individual results may vary (via Latisse.com).

When will I see results?

We do not know exactly how LATISSE works; however, we believe it does so by increasing the growth cycle (anagen) phase of your eyelash hair cycle. Anagen is the growth phase of all hair. We believe that it increases the length of the anagen phase and the number of hairs in this growth phase (via Latisse.com).
